Lost teeth can mean a loss of function
Once you have had your new complete dentures fitted and relined, you may feel you can’t chew your food as efficiently as you should. Some patients don’t adapt well to complete dentures especially on the lower, this can impair your ability to chew and digest your food properly, requiring more effort, you may also experience a loss of satisfaction of eating.
You may require additional adjustment to your dentures
Your clinician will work with you to either reline and reset the teeth or rebalance your bite, all of these adjustments may restore some of your chewing ability, but will never give you back your original function.

What is a dental implant?
A dental implant is a titanium screw that completely replaces the root of your natural tooth and is fitted to either upper or lower jaw. A prosthetic tooth is then fitted to the implant, allowing a natural look and feel and extremely secure fastening.
What is an implant over-denture?
An implant over denture is a denture that is held in place by dental implants, some of the dentures are fixed permanently by screws to the implant (Fixed). Removable over-dentures are held in place by clips or fasteners and can be removed by the patient for cleaning.
Benefits
The key feature of the implant over-dentures, is they are able to be removed for cleaning, this allows the patient to maintain the dentures and underlying gum health daily. This is why we recommend using overdentures instead of Fixed implant dentures.
